Say Hello To Romo

26 July 2012COMMENTS
Romo

Meet Romo. He is a cross between Wall-e/Johnny 5 and Spongebob Square Pants.
Romo is a programmable robot that uses the processing power of a smartphone. By downloading the Romo app onto another iOS or Android device, you can drive Romo and see from his perspective. You can also change Romo’s animated face, making him angry, happy, sad or mischievous.

Romo transmits what he can see via the camera on the front of the phone, which lets you safely drive him from anywhere in the world.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the Romo smartphone robot is now available to buy.

Romo works with the following devices:

  • iPhone 3G, 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S
  • iPod Touch 3rd Generation and newer
  • Samsung Galaxy family with Android v2.3+
  • HTC family with Android v2.3+
  • Motorola Droid family with Android v2.3+

Hopefully within a few years an affordable robot that makes tea will be available - when that happens I'll be at the front of the queue!
