The internet has been ablaze with strong rumours that Google will be finally releasing their own cloud-based storage solution to rival Dropbox, potentially as soon as this week.
What we know so far:
- The Verge (Via Reuters) claim the service will offer an initial 5gb storage with the option to upgrade to 100gb
- Tech Crunch were tipped off to a standalone Mac installer for Google Drive
Cloud based services have preempted Google Drive by launching new features that will hopefully retain their existing user base. Dropbox has updated its service so users can share content by sending an email link instead of sharing folders and Microsoft have added extra storage to their Skydrive service.
All of the above appears to be pretty conclusive and it is a matter of 'when' not 'if' Google Drive will be announced.
Stay tuned...
