Why say something with words when you can say it with photos?
The developers of this new app, which allows you to have conversations through photos claim you can 'Just snap a picture, post it and watch it come to life with photo-replies from friends and strangers.'
The idea seems to be working. Piictu has been live in the App Store for 10 weeks and has seen more than 110,000 downloads. The idea is simple, fun and very addictive. You can easily start a photo conversation with strangers then post to Twitter or Facebook to share with your friends.
Piictu is part photo game, part social camera and part meme-space. It’s designed for people who love to share photos via mobile and easily gets them involved in picture conversations about pretty much anything. You can become strangely addicted to seeing what results come back from topics such as ‘Show me your shoes’ or ‘The first yellow thing you see’.
With the recent rise of microblogging, picture streams are becoming more popular. Twitter, for example recently added image galleries to each users profile and it’s likely other platforms with start to create their own versions of pictorial conversation.
Piictu Founder Jonathan Slimak says that the idea came from watching the World Series on TV, when his friends began posting pictures of themselves in their favourite teams’ jerseys to a group MMS app.
In the future Piictu plans on attracting brands looking to engage with customers through photo conversations, creating a viable business opportunity.
